What is name numerology?
In Pythagorean numerology each letter gets a value from 1 to 9. The sum of the letters in the full name is reduced to find the Expression number. The interpretation connects that number to themes such as initiative, communication, organization, or care. It is a symbolic language for reflection, not a scientific personality test.
A worked example
For the sample name Anna Smith, add each letter with the chart below and reduce the total. Spaces and punctuation do not count. Accented letters use the base letter.

Expression, Soul, and Personality are not the same
Expression uses every letter. Soul uses the vowels. Personality uses the consonants. This calculator gives you Expression. Life Path comes from the birth date, which is why the name and the date can produce different numbers. Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are kept when they appear. They do not mean someone is better or destined for success.
